We are delighted to announce that last week, our team members from Tended and MacRail successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, conquering the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, all in one day. We are so proud to say that everyone in the team finished in under the average time of 13-hours and we even had some amazing team members coming in at just under 10 hours!
The day was not only physically exhausting, but incredibly mentally challenging and even harder than any of us ever imagined. But together, we cheered each other on and were motivated by the fact we were completing the challenge in memory of our colleague Matt Handford, as well as raising vital funds for the Railway Children charity.
A huge well done to all involved - completing this extremely tough challenge is an incredible achievement, particularly as the drop out rate is reported to be 25%! At 24.5 miles and 1,585m of ascent, we walked almost a marathon distance and climbed higher than Ben Nevis in just 10 - 13 hours.
"This challenge was a fantastic personal goal that I'll remember for a long time. It's incredible how much further you can go when you put your mind to it and never give up. Better yet, we worked closely as a team, providing encouragement when we needed it most and we succeeded together." - Adam Crago, MacRail
"I knew it was going to be hard but I completely underestimated the level of mental endurance required for this challenge. I'm so proud of everyone and it feels incredible to say we all did it. I really struggled at the end and couldn't have finished without my amazing supportive team cheering me on!" - Megan Bates, Tended
So far, we've raised over £6,100 for Railway Children and there is still time to support us and donate.
If you are able to spare any change and get us closer to our £7,500 target, it would mean the world to everyone in our team. The Railway Children charity works tirelessly to protect and support children who are at risk of exploitation, homelessness, and abuse on the streets. This challenge was gruelling but to know that we are raising vital funds to help make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children makes it all worth it.
