We are so proud to announce that Tended, alongside our partner RSS Infrastructure (RSSI), took home the award for Commitment to Safety at the prestigious SPOTLIGHT Rail Awards for our collaboration in deploying geofencing technology in the railway industry.

Taking place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, the ceremony last night celebrated the greatest achievements in the railway industry. We were delighted to have been nominated in our category alongside some notable organisations, who are all innovating to transform rail safety, including Frauscher UK, Siemens and South Western Railway.

Tended and RSSI took home the trophy for Commitment to Safety

‘Everyone Home Safe Every Day’ is Network Rail’s safety promise, building safety as the top priority from the start of the process. Our winning entry in the Commitment to Safety category stood out to judges as an initiative that truly supports Network Rail’s promise and provides a game-changing technology which helps mitigate risk for track workers.

Last year, Tended and RSSI embarked on a collaboration to deliver geofencing across rail projects. Tended’s cutting-edge geofencing technology combined with RSSI’s expertise and experience in rail safety creates a formidable partnership for providing an unrivalled managed service for organisations to enhance safety. With both dry hire and managed service options, RSSI can oversee the geofencing aspect of a project from start to finish

This particular entry into the SPOTLIGHT Rail Awards was for a 2023 project in which RSSI achieved the following deliverables:

  • A ZERO Accident Frequency Rate
  • Created safe access points and routes for the planned worksite to ensure teams operate within the safe working limit.
  • Delivered positive behavioural change by improving situational awareness around hazards
  • Planned the project to ensure full compliance with NR’s Safety Standards 019, 0130 and the geofencing standard (NR/L2/OHS/501, Module W4)
  • Reduced errors and potential health risks associated with setting up and managing physical fences
