Tended won at the 25th annual Rail Business Awards in the Safety and Security Excellence category!
Well established as the first national awards for the UK rail sector, the Rail Business Awards is committed to recognising and celebrating achievements in every aspect of the industry, from daily operations, safety and customer service to technical innovation and major projects.
More than 40 companies and organisations were shortlisted for the 25th Rail Business Awards, recognising the achievements of the UK rail sector over the past 12 months.
The winners were announced at the ceremony on February 23rd in London and Tended took home the Safety and Security Excellence award for its geofencing safety technology.
Judges said geofencing offers a strong advance in managing safety and warning against misadventure or risk taking, helping to prevent loss of life or serious injury.
Leo Scott Smith, CEO and Founder of Tended said: "Another award recognising the amazing work we’re doing to improve safety. We’re already seeing this technology rolled out across routes and recognition like this helps us to continue making a huge impact on safety across the railway industry, ensuring workers return home safe every day. A massive well done to our wonderful team for all of their hard work over the past few years building this technology - this fantastic achievement would not have been possible without you all."
Tended’s award-winning solution uses geofencing technology to map virtual safe zones to create safe working limits on a worksite. The technology detects if someone leaves the safe zone to centimetre-level accuracy, alerting them in real time through a small wearable device. Having been developed around behavioural science, the technology is designed to nudge workers into safer behaviours and increase hazard perception.
This solution is now being deployed across routes to improve track worker safety and helping to put an end to near misses and fatalities. Find out more.
