This week we are delighted to announce the newest member of the Tended team - Andy Crago!
Andy joins us as Head of Rail where he'll support our implementation of geofencing technology across the railway industry. Andy has a huge amount of experience in the rail industry, having held various positions going from an apprentice through to running his own training company which he sold, and running one of Network Rail's largest plant providers, Hydrex. He'll be a brilliant asset to the team and we're very excited to have him on board!
We took five minutes out of the day to chat with Andy to help everyone get to know him a little better...
What will you be responsible for in your new role at Tended?
My role will involve providing support for the sales team, ensuring successful implementations of our products, and maintaining high standards of quality. I will be using my extensive experience within the railway industry to act as the voice of the customer in our product development process, continuously helping to improve our products and services. Additionally, I will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet industry standards and regulations and that our customers are satisfied with their experience using our products.
You’re joining Tended with an extensive background in the rail industry - what will your knowledge/experience of working here bring to your new role at Tended?
I think my experience navigating the product acceptance process will help with the successful integration of geofencing technology into the railway industry. This involves an understanding of industry standards and protocols, as well as comprehensive knowledge of the RISQS process. I also have plenty of experience building strong customer relationships, which plays a vital role in ensuring seamless product adoption and sustained success.
What’s going to be the most exciting part about your job?
I am looking forward to working with technology to reduce the risk of personal harm and improve safety when using railway and construction plant. I envisage that, over the coming years, this system will become business as usual across the railway industry, becoming an embedded additional layer of protection as opposed to being an optional extra.
What motivates you at work?
The thing I am most passionate about at work is improving the safety of track workers and making sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day. What motivates me is solving problems and providing solutions. I believe that understanding a company's unique challenges is the key to unlocking its potential and supporting its growth, and I am always eager to lend my expertise to this end.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have 2 little dogs, Lexi and Buster.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to watch football and I also enjoy walking, cycling and playing with my grandkids.
How would your friends describe you?
They would describe me as a workaholic, as well as supportive and kind.
What is your proudest achievement?
I am very proud of the fact that I was awarded Businessman of The Year for the South West.
It's fantastic to have you with us, Andy!
