This week we are delighted to announce the newest member of the Tended team - Lloyd Simbeye!
Lloyd has come on board with us as an Account Manager and will be responsible for developing and nurturing our customer relationships. Lloyd joins us from TfL, where he had a 19-year career in several roles from customer service to train driving, and later, station supervision. A notable achievement was his contribution to the groundbreaking Jubilee Line project, where Lloyd was involved in improving the safety and efficiency for rail passengers across 11 new stations, incorporating cutting-edge safety features like platform edge doors and step-free access.
Lloyd's experience working for TfL in this capacity means he brings with him a wealth of experience implementing technology to enhance safety in railway environments, influencing human behaviour and bringing about positive change.
We took five minutes out of the day to chat with Lloyd and get to know him a little better...
What will you be doing/be responsible for in your new role at Tended?
I am thrilled to be a part of Tended as an Account Manager. In this role, I will be responsible for fostering and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring their satisfaction, and gaining a deep understanding of their business needs. My focus will involve collaborative efforts with internal teams to provide effective solutions, oversee project management, and strategically contribute to the growth of our accounts.
How do you think the work Tended is doing will impact the railway industry?
Drawing from my firsthand experience in the operational railway sector with TFL, I've witnessed the transformative impact of technology on the daily operations of the railway. I firmly believe that Tended has the potential not only to save lives but also to significantly enhance the safety culture prevalent in railway operations. By influencing behaviour through human engagement and leveraging data-driven evidence, we can bring about positive change. As we continue to cultivate trust with our clients and invest in innovation over time, the opportunities for improvement become vast and promising.
What are you most looking forward to about working at Tended?
Collaborating with an exceptional team that shares a passion for saving lives and wholeheartedly believes in the products and services we offer is truly empowering. I am confident that this synergy will enable us to achieve the commercial growth potential that I envision. Additionally, I look forward to enjoying some fun moments together along the way.
What motivates you at work?
Exceeding sales targets and performance metrics serves as a substantial motivator in my professional journey. More honestly when I smash my goals, it's not just a pat on the back – it's a full-on celebration. I might not be the heavyweight champ of the world, but in my head, they would love to be me.
What’s going to be the most exciting part about your job?
Teaming up with the whole gang. Marketing, implementation, and product development teams are where the real magic happens. It's like assembling the Avengers at Tended, each with their own super skills. I'm genuinely excited about our shared victories on the horizon!
Do you have any pets?
I do not have any pets.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy quality time with my children, and as a family of food enthusiasts, much of our time is devoted to cooking and savouring meals together. During my personal time, I indulge in watching a considerable amount of boxing and MMA. I'm always open to engaging in debates about predictions for winners, opinions on rightful champions, and discussions about the aftermath of matches.
How would your friends describe you?
Tough one. I think they'd say I'm loyal, brutally honest (maybe a bit too much), and someone who thinks they're funnier than they really are! Of course, I'd beg to differ.
What’s something you’re proud of doing in your lifetime?
What I take the most pride in is my faith and being a dad. I may not have mastered either, but they're the driving forces that shape me into a better man. I might not have it all figured out, but it's the journey of striving to be a better person, a better man, that counts. It's in those imperfect moments that I find the raw material for growth and self-improvement. So, yeah, I may not be flawless, but my faith and fatherhood are the guiding lights that make me a work-in-progress, a better version of myself.
Thanks so much, Lloyd - it's brilliant to have you join us!
