This week we are delighted to announce the newest member of the Tended team - Matt Silvester!
Matt has come on board with us as Account Director and will be responsible for developing and nurturing our customer relationships. Joining us from leading health and safety technology provider StaySafe, Matt already has nearly 10 years' experience deploying worker protection solutions and we look forward to everything he's going to bring to the team!
We took five minutes out of the day to chat with Matt and get to know him a little better...
Can you tell us a bit about your professional background?
I have a background in health and safety software and over 10 years' working in the broader software space. I started my health and safety career specifically in a customer-facing technical support role for an organisation called StaySafe. I gradually moved into more of a sales and project management role playing a key part in growing the business to a point where it was commercially appealing.
This business (StaySafe) was then successfully sold to EcoOnline, a global SaaS provider. I spent the last 6 years of my time with StaySafe as an Account Director working all over the globe both in new business sales and project management. I have extensive experience working in the utilities and highways sectors and I pride myself on maintaining a strong commercial and technical knowledge of the health and safety and software space.
What will your experience bring to your new role?
Having worked with one of the leading providers of a health and safety technology solution for the best part of 10 years, I have a deep understanding of common issues faced by organisations trying to improve their safety culture. I am well placed to support clients with the implementation of a new technology solution and have a genuine passion for technology that enables people to go home safely at the end of their working day.
What’s going to be the most exciting part about your job?
Having joined Tended at such a pivotal time, I am super excited to have a direct impact on the growth of the business. I envisage organisations all over the globe having a Tended device as a crucial part of their PPE. I genuinely believe that our Founder, Leo Scott Smith could be the next Edward W Bullard, only better… watch this space!
What motivates you at work?
I’ve always enjoyed working in an ambitious business where I can genuinely add value and make a significant contribution towards achieving and exceeding the organisation's strategic objectives. The fact that I can do that in an organisation that is building technology that prevents injury and loss of life is just amazing!
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a dog called Teddy, Ted for short. He’s a 2 year old Cockapoo and he’s bonkers!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending time with my wife, Sarah and my two boys Alfie & Freddie, 10 & 6 respectively. We love being outdoors and you’ll seldom find us at home. We’re normally out walking, sight-seeing or indulging in a bit of Cafe Culture. My two boys are very active so more often then not, I’m playing ‘Dad’s taxi’. When I’m not with the family or ferrying the kids around, I’m a keen biker and I love adrenaline sports; skiing/mountain biking… Anything with the potential to seriously injure me generally is high up on the list of things I love to try; much to my wife’s dismay!
How would your friends describe you?
My friends would describe me as fun, energetic, willing to try anything and very loyal!
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement without a shadow of a doubt is my two boys. I’m incredibly proud of both of them and the young men then are shaping up to be.
