This week we are delighted to announce the newest member of the Tended team - Ashley Bayley!

Ashley joins the Business Team as Client Implementation Manager and will be working closely with each of our customers to ensure the seamless integration of Tended’s geofencing technology into their business operations. Previously Project Manager at Network Rail’s Safety Task Force, Ashley brings a wealth of experience in using innovation to help keep trackside workers safe, and we are thrilled to have him on board our mission to help get everyone home safe every day.

We took five minutes out of the day to chat with Ashley and get to know him a little better...

What will you be doing/be responsible for in your new role at Tended?

I will be responsible for providing our clients with project management support to ensure the smooth implementation of our geofencing technology, whether that be setting up and running a pilot in collaboration with the client, or helping to embed the technology into business as usual.

You’ve joined us from Network Rail’s Safety Task Force - what will your knowledge/experience of working here bring to your new role at Tended?

Working in Network Rail’s Safety Task Force highlighted the importance of safety within the rail industry, ensuring we made positive steps forward with our processes to create environments where our people were as safe as possible, while allowing us to explore the possibilities of technology to make further improvements. I believe the experience has made me even more passionate in ensuring that frontline workers get home safe and well after every shift.

How do you think the work Tended is doing will impact the railway industry?

The reason why I decided to join Tended was because I believe that the technology will genuinely save lives and prevent injuries. I know from everyday life how easy it can be to lose focus and take a misstep but having geofencing technology to give you that instant tap on the shoulder will be invaluable.

What are you most looking forward to about working at Tended?

The speed of innovation. Since joining Tended, I've been blown away by the potential to make enhancements to hardware and software and how quickly they can be designed, developed, tested, implemented and socialised. There are some really talented people in this organisation and I'm really excited to see where this journey takes us.

What motivates you at work?

If you would have asked me this a couple of years ago, the answer would have been very different. But after working on Network Rail’s Safety Task Force and seeing how passionate the senior leaders of that programme were and how they genuinely cared about the safety of others, I would say it would be that which motivates me - working for an organisation that puts people at the centre of its values and genuinely cares.

What’s going to be the most exciting part about your job?

Watching the technology develop with new features based on the feedback from clients implementing it across their organisations.

Do you have any pets?

I do, yes! I’ve got two step-daughter cats that are called Ivy and Olive. I’m not sure they are the happiest with me at the moment because recently I've stolen their playroom as my home office, so watch out on video calls as they both like to say hello from the top of their cat tree, or sit on the notepad you are currently using.

I also have a dog brother called Rubyn, who is a 7-month old cockapoo who is my shadow when I am around. That’s usually because I like to give him a few too many treats and he thanks me by chewing expensive trainers!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Football, football and more football. I’m a massive Manchester City football fan so I enjoy watching the games and spending far too many hours on Football Manager pretending to be the next Pep.

Second to Manchester City, I really enjoy getting out and travelling. Before covid, I used to be a little bit of a home bird but that’s changed over the last 12 months and I've had some good trips both inside and outside the UK. I’ve got a couple of summer holidays in the diary that I am looking forward to, mostly the pizza and wine in Rome.

How would your friends describe you?

My friends would describe me as very personable, a good team player and supportive.

What’s something you’re proud of doing in your lifetime?

Outside of work, I am proud of the work that I do in youth football coaching where I currently manage an U15 Team at Reddish North End Football Club, who are based in Stockport. Football coaching is something I've loved doing over the last 3 years as it not only allows me to coach technical football skills but also potential life skills and a work ethic that the players will take forward in life.

It's fantastic to have you join the team, Ashley!
