Tended, a leading innovator in safety technology, is excited to announce its sponsorship of the "Design a Railway Station 2030" competition, a visionary initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of talent in the rail industry. This unique competition encourages students from schools across Birmingham and the Black Country to design sustainable, accessible, and future-ready railway stations.
Organised in collaboration with RSS Infrastructure (RSSI), Balfour Beatty Rail, Midlands Rail Alliance (MRA), and the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) Careers Hubs, the competition blends creativity, engineering, and sustainability to reimagine the future of rail.
Leo Scott-Smith, CEO & Founder at Tended, shared his enthusiasm:"We're so excited to be involved with the Railway Station 2030 Design Competition! Led by RSS Infrastructure, this initiative is a great opportunity to support the local community and showcase the creativity of young people, while exploring the innovative ways our railway stations can better serve passengers in the future. I'm particularly excited to see the wild and wonderful ideas and to select the recipient of Tended's Smart and Innovative Technology Award. With such imaginative concepts, choosing just one standout design will undoubtedly be a challenge!”
Inspiring the next generation
The competition provides students with a platform to explore the challenges and opportunities in railway design, including sustainability, passenger experience, and technological innovation. By engaging with local schools, the initiative seeks to foster a new generation of engineers, planners, and innovators who will lead the Midlands and the UK rail sector into the future.
Monica Barbosa, Client Services Director of RSS Infrastructure, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Tended as a sponsor of this initiative. Their commitment to safety and innovation will be an invaluable addition to event as we inspire the next generation to take an active role in shaping the future of rail. We are proud to also be their partners in providing next-day geofencing services across rail projects."
